For nearly 100 years, the American Cancer Society has been working to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. This year more than 11 million cancer survivors will celebrate another birthday, thanks in part to the progress they’ve already made. This year 5th Finger was excited to help.
The movement for more birthdays is about everyday people, just like you, coming together to make a difference. In 2010 the American Cancer Society launched their morebirthdays.com website. This site is dedicated to people and artists coming together to discover exciting ways to wish each other a Happy Birthday while raising awareness for the American Cancer Society and supporting the fight against cancer.
5th Finger is enabling visitors of www.morebirthdays.com to send a birthday song recorded by artists such as Usher, Justin Bieber, and Devo to their friend’s mobile phone. The birthday wish bestower can customize a greeting on their own mobile which will be sent to the recipient attached to the birthday song from their favorite celebrity and the American Cancer Society.
This effort is not only engaging people, driving them to the morebirthdays.com website, and inspiring donations, it is acting as a multiplier for spreading that awareness the American Cancer Society is looking for. Over 5,000 birthday greetings have been scheduled in the brief month since the phone call feature launched online and we’re looking forward to enabling many more Happy Birthdays in 2011!
Curious to try it out but don’t have a birthday marked on the calendar coming up soon? Don’t worry, you can set it up and schedule it for delivery months down the road!
